New OEB Chair Nominated

Ontario Energy Minister Duguid announced today that he is nominating Rosemarie T. Leclair, currently the president of Hydro Ottawa’s parent, to lead the Ontario Energy Board. Here is the OEB’s decision on Hydro Ottawa’s most recent rate plan, a rate plan I characterize as “heads the utility wins, tails the customers lose.”

  1. It smacks of an “in your face” appointment by Brad Duguid to the ratepayers of Ontario. Trying to reset the IRM when they are coming off a ROE of almost 11% Hydro Ottawa and any other LDC’s will appeal to Leclair for rate increases knowing they have a supporter at the helm of the OEB. Duguid has obviously decided that the OEB will become his puppet and consumers can simply cry in the expensive beer!
