Gas Busters Part #18: Information Request to OPA

(The following information request was filed with the OPA today.)

+++

The OPA provides a helpful list of current Directives from the government to the OPA here:

http://www.powerauthority.on.ca/about-us/directives-opa-minister-energy-and-infrastructure

As set out in law, these Directives guide the actions of the OPA and are therefore important documents.

I notice that many previous Directives are missing from the above-noted list, including but not limited to:

  • June 15, 2005 – Negotiating and concluding contracts with certain generation facilities, mostly gas;
  • June 13, 2006 – re. IPSP;
  • August 18, 2008 – re. SW GTA Supply (Oakville); and,
  • September 17, 2008 – Amendments to Supply Mix Directive issued June 13, 2006.

Where can the public access the Directives that reverse Directives and the retired Directives?

In addition, where can the public access the Process Letters, including those referenced in Directives.

The substance of the OPA’s reply as of 12:34 pm is:

All of the below mentioned directives are provided as PDF web links on the OPA’s website. The page is separated into directives, followed by ministerial letters. The directives are in reverse chronological order, with the most recent at the top, followed by the letters, also in reverse chronological order.

For easy reference, here are direct links to the Directives you could not locate:

June 13, 2006 ““ Integrated Power System Plan
August 18, 2008 – SW GTA Supply (Oakville)

September 17, 2008 – Amendments to Supply Mix Directive issued June 13, 2006.

On your second question, it’s not clear to me what you mean by process letters, but please let me know if the letters listed on the bottom of that same directive page are not what you are looking for.
